Robert Rauschenberg Dies

Friday, May 16, 2008
Rest In Peace Mister Rauschenberg.  The inspirational artist who - for me - was the master who bridged Abstract Expressionism with Pop.  And embraced pop culture and the everyday with a warmth that subsequent American Pop artists didn't.

Robert Raschenberg died at 82 of heart failure after a lifetime of making, creating, celebrating and questioning.

One of my favourite quotes from the man is that “I really feel sorry for people who think things like soap dishes or mirrors or Coke bottles are ugly, because they’re surrounded by things like that all day long, and it must make them miserable.”

Beauty in the everyday is important still today...
