BEAUTIFUL BURNOUTS - a collaborative exhibition by Melbourne artist Jeremy Kibel & Sydney based Giles Ryder. 17th July - 9th August

Kibel and Ryder create an intersection between sound and vision, spinning their respective painting practices in a new direction. The visual combination of Ryder’s detached minimalism and Kibel’s neo-expressionist sensibilities has resulted in the resurrection of the circular vinyl record, painting the object and hiding its fading history.

Combining painting, sound and video, Kibel and Ryder transform the gallery into a full sensory experience. The viewer has the unique chance to simultaneously view the work as it is being made and as it hangs on the gallery walls.

'Jeremy and I went for the turntable painting idea and to make a video work that situates both the sound of the painting and the sound of the vinyl, being played and painted simultaneously.’ Giles Ryder, 2008
