The Radical Lands of Rad

Wednesday, September 03, 2008
During the 90’s in Australia there really wasn’t a single skatepark that reached the legendary status of UK’s Radlands. With cats like Carl Shipman, Penny, Rowley and Rune shredding the damp Northampton park on the regs it was not surprising that boundaries were getting broken on the daily. Some VHS classic footage has just popped up on the web. Check the star studded, fresh-faced line ups at the 1995 and 1996 comps. No TV stars, just the cream of the crop of the time. Aside from the locals, in the 1995 one it was also awesome to see fallen brother’s Shao and Brauch tearing the shed to shreds. While on the topic of Radlands, it should be noted that Carl Shipman has just been re-agentified over at the Stereo Camp. Also, whilst UK-side the big three contest went down at Lloyds in Bristol on the weekend during which local set killer Korahn Gayle nailed a switch backside 360! Bionic stuff!
