The best park in the world

Sunday, July 20, 2008
It may not house tonnes of actual skate spots, but if you are skating in Paris and fancy a break, you have to check out “Parc de la Villette”. It is easily the best public park I have ever seen. From giant dragon slides, to over-sized bike wheels, halls of mirrors and giant glass spheres, this place has it all and has a total other world feel to it. It was designed by Bernard Tschumi and was completed in 1998. A neurotic bunch of badgers called “People for Public Spaces” inducted it into their Hall of Shame due to it’s “unintelligent landscape structures” and “unsafe spaces” but I reckon these guys are full of it and old Bernard should be applauded. If you get a chance, make sure you visit Parc de la Villette. Thanks so much to my sis Cecile for taking me there.
