A visiting friend recently asked how my shoe collection was going. Visiting friend has been away a long time, and I have lived out of a backpack in London. So the answer was, “it’s not going so well, actually”.
I have a new tendency to wear shoes until they die. This is something that the fashionable backpacker learns early on in their travels. Travelling with too many shoes is HEAVY. Travelling with a few outrageously fabulous shoes is the key because they make you happy every time you look down. You can wear them to pieces, then replace with new cool shit you find somewhere like Barcelona or Paris.
Which brings me to the second thing that I’ve noticed about my shoe collection. I have no black flat shoes. That’s just stupid. What’s wrong with me? I have serious gaps of practical fashion. (I also own no black cardigans, but that’s an aside.)
And so, I have come to the conclusion that the following seven pairs are the practical shoes that could boost my collection right now. I could even chuck out the shoes that are falling apart. The colours go with everything and could definitely work with more than one outfit.
