Easily the funniest thing about London Fashion Week - the event sandwiched between New York and Paris shows - is just how many people linger outside the main runway at Somerset House on The Strand, just hoping that the Sartorialist will snap their photo. How much txting and waiting for chums can one person actually do? There's a definite amount of time after which it's totes obvs you are posing for a papping.

It's a wonder that Scott Schuman, who has been working the streets with his girlfriend Garance Dore, hasn't got two books out already, given the number of subjects just ready to be papped.

Schuman is in town for his book launch, and Dore for the launch of her denim line for Gap. Dore, always the chattier of the two also said they were keen to see the Burberry show coming up on Tuesday.

It's the first time the Burberry Prorsum has shown in the UK, and Anna Wintour is coming, so it's kinda a big deal. Did I say kinda? It's massive. Apparently they're also hosting "the" party to be at, so let's hope it's all that. In the psychic canape I'm guessing we'll nom smoked salmon and cream cheese with dill in a mini icecream cone.

The Burberry news is almost as massive as the number of shows on the schedule - 59 to be exact. That means you basically cannot go to them all.

As such, I can say that Eley Kishimoto delivered a hopeful and summery print-heavy collection called Beyond the Chintz. They called it a clashing of visual references, I call it a hint that people hope the doom and gloom of the fierce UK recession might be over by next spring/summer.

Also on the upbeat, light-hearted trend was the Ashish collection. Pretty much, watching that show made you feel like you were on sequin-encrusted holiday in Florida with your Yenta. Scientific research will soon find that there is nothing more cheerful than a sequined palm-print trouser.

If the whole feel of fashion week wasn't already warming my cockles, bumping into a gaggle of Australian designers and media at the Josh Goot show would have picked me up from the gloom that London sometimes lands on you.

Therese Rawsthorne, Jade Sarita Arnsdorf, Lucinda from Pages and Isabel Lucas were all there to see his bright, geometric collection made for a bionic woman from a psychedelic realm. The fitted party dresses contoured the body like Seven of Nine*, the shaded dot-print morphed to build optical illusions and the bright prints were a forceful departure from the dark and subtle tie-dye of his last collection.

From the shows so far, trends that are not going to die any time soon include this super bright digital print idea, metallics, bolstered shoulders, loose belted lady trousers and sequins.

*First Star Trek reference in a fashion blog, surely.
