I Like You: Entertaining Under the Influece by Amy Sedaris is my new favourite book. It is jammed with her
outstandingly kitch level of humour as seen in that excellent show of hers,
Strangers with Candy, and also in my fav magazine,
Bust.
And when I say my new favourite book, I mean the book I snaffled from friendy last night because she said she laughed hysterically when she started reading it and I thought I need a dose of that. So it's hers, but now it's my favourite. And it should be yours so go and get one for the time of your life.
And so I laughed 'til I got hungry and fell asleep. Asleep because just a picture of a bong sends me right off. Hungry because
Amy's recipes are unstoppable. Like this one: "Live Alone? Make half a cake. Bake an eight inch one-layer cake. Cut in half, frost one side, top with the other and frost. Now you've got yourself a 2-layer half cake. Knock yourself out, fatty." Oowww, hurts from laughing too much.
I'm going back in today to soak up some more of her outrageous hosting outfits. Page 135 has all the hairstyles you need to suit your face shape. Page 281 is all the jewellery you ever needed to know how to make. Scattered through the whole book are enough brilliant outfits incorporating vintage, rick rack, patchwork, pantyhose, embroidery and balloons.
No-one's as funny as her. Except perhaps
Larry David. But he does so much less fashwahn.
