I have a theory that all good ideas have already been had. They all exist in a big pool of ideas out there in the ether, and creatives just pluck them out at different times. You might pluck an idea out and design a frock that someone already though of in Nova Scotia in 1932. On some occasions, creative types may not realise they've plucked out the same idea.
Take Stussy designer Siggi Eggertson and Beci Orpin. They're prime examples.
Eggertsson and Orpin have plucked the same bright, graphic medal concept out of the atmosphere.
They've both executed it to skilful degrees - Eggertsson on T-shirts, Orpin on artwork.
And yet, despite their minor differences, they look very much alike. Separate cortexes, same ether of inspiration. Weird. Global consciousness, that's all I'm saying.
