Didn't the war crimes trial of former Liberian president Charles Taylor take a glamorous and exhilarating turn last week?! There were just so many stars and so many idiotic quotes coming out of Naomi Campbell's pouty lips that it took quite a lot of effort to stay focused on the whole 'war crimes' thing.

Anyway, yesterday it was finally time for actress Mia Farrow to give evidence, which I was really looking forward to and I'm happy to say I wasn't disappointed.

Anyway, let the courts decide what will become of the ridiculous Naomi Campbell—let's talk about the much more interesting Mia Farrow, instead!

Farrow is now best-known as a humanitarian (she has visited Darfur and Eastern Chad 13 times since 2004) but she used to be known for quite a lot of other stuff, such as posing with four-leaf clovers.

But there's also a lot more. Let's remember some of it today in a series of numbered bullet points, titled:

Some fun facts about Mia Farrow!

1. Farrow's mum, Maureen O'Sullivan, was an actress. Here she is starring in Tarzan. Cute!

2. When Mia was 19, she screen-tested for the role of Liesl von Trapp in The Sound of Music (you can see her whimsical/frightening audition at 8.40). She didn't get the part, obvs.

3. Farrow's first marriage was to Frank Sinatra. She was 21 and he was 50. It lasted 18 months.

4. Rosemary's Baby. Just. Rosemary's Baby.

(This trailer is one of the best things you'll ever see. If you watch till the end I guarantee you'll be forced to agree with my argument that 'they don't do voice-overs like they used to anymore'.)

5. Her iconic hairstyle.

As every woman who has ever got a pixie cut knows, it's impossible to get one without Mia Farrow's name being mentioned at some stage either before, during or after the chop.

6. Second marriage: To composer, Andre Previn. It was during this time she started collecting as many kids as possible.

7. The Beatles and Rishikesh

Beatles-Donovan-India

In 1968, Farrow went to Rishikesh in India to study Transcendental Meditation with the Maharishi, and there are many colourful photos that document this time.

How many Beach Boys, Beatles and other 60s identities can you find in this picture?

Bonus fun fact!
Mia's sister, Prudence Farrow, was at Rishikesh too, and often spent 20 hours a day in her room, meditating. She was so intense about it that The Beatles wrote 'Dear Prudence' for her. ('Won't you come out to play?')

8. The Great Gatsby

Excellent costume design. Execrable film.

9. Relationship with Woody Allen.

They were together from 1980 until 1992, but the relationship disintegrated while they were filming Husbands and Wives (which also starred Juliette Lewis as a creative writing student, which I think is seriously one of her greatest roles ever).

It ended because Farrow found naked photos taken by Allen of their 21-year-old adopted daughter Soon-Yi. It was around this time that Mia's former husband, Frank Sinatra, offered to break Woody Allen's legs. TRUE. It's all there in Mia's autobiography.

10. Final kid count.

Farrow ended up having 14 children, 10 of whom were adopted. Here she is with half of them.

And that's it for today! I hope you've enjoyed this small insight into the fascinating life of Mia Farrow as much as I've enjoyed watching and re-watching that Rosemary's Baby trailer.
