how gay - so gay

The use of the word “gay” as a synonym for “stupid” still annoys me.

Mainly because there are a large number of other wonderful words in the English language that would be much more expressive and suitable. and that also have more letters.

It doesn’t however, annoy me enough to make a set of TV commercials about the use of the word. So thankfully someone else did.



Check out Thinkb4youspeak, and add your own alternative for “gay”.



The annoyance doesn’t run deep enough to get super involved in writing academic level posts and arguments for the Facebook group The word "gay" is not a synonym for "stupid". Which, incidentally, I think is one of the most interesting and comprehensive discussion boards I have come across.

So, if you use “gay” in my classroom to answer a question about geography, or just anything in general, you will be finding yourself making your own 300 word contribution one of the 2266 discussion threads on the page and answering a 10 question test on the contents of the site, and the comprehensive wikipedia entry.

Just another reason why I have such a great rating on Ratemyteacher.com
