Hello to everyone everywhere having agood time. The weather is so
rubbish in Melbourne today, one may as well be in grey old London. At the
Design
Museum.
Scrap that.
One may as well be there in four days time when the Alan Aldridge exhibition opens. Aldridge was the art director for Penguin books in the sixties, and he designed a whole lot of cover art for some band called the Beatles.

I like Aldridge because he's from Bethnal Green AKA shitsville, and was born there in 1943 when it was getting the pants bombed off it. To come from somewhere like that back then, teach yourself to be an artist and then get this string of massive gigs is so impressive. When his schoolmates were probably sizing up jobs at the markets or the match factory he was lord of the manor in Beatles land.
