SingStar ABBA

Tuesday, September 16, 2008

Mamma Mia! Sony is about to heap more misery on tormented neighbours.

More than half a million SingStar microphones are now in Australian homes and regularly suffering the indignity of having inebriated party guests and excitable teenagers using them to perform their worst Cyndi Lauper or Delta Goodrem impersonations.

This Christmas, Sony is making a dire situation even worse by releasing dedicated ABBA versions of SingStar for both the PlayStation 2 and PS3 consoles.

The track list will include Mamma Mia, Gimme Gimme Gimme, Waterloo and of course, Dancing Queen.

"We are thrilled to be collaborating with ABBA to bring their tracks to SingStar this Christmas," says David Reeves, President of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (and closet Benny Andersson admirer).

"The popularity of this iconic band continues year after year, and we know SingStar fans will be delighted to add this selection of classics tracks to their SingStar collection."

Lucian Grainge, Chairman and CEO of Universal Music Group International says "ABBA have joined that elite club of musicians and artists whose popularity only grows with time, as new generations enjoy some of the most memorable music ever made. SingStar ABBA will have the world singing along again."

ABBA has sold over 370 million albums worldwide and SingStar ABBA continues the recent resurgence of popularity of the Swedish band, sparked by the dreadful Hollywood musical Mamma Mia starring Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan.
