More Grand Theft Auto in February

Saturday, November 22, 2008

Rockstar Games has announced that the first episode of downloadable missions for Grand Theft Auto IV will be released on February 17 next year. Called The Lost and Damned, the missions are exclusive to Xbox 360 and are the first of two episodes planned.

The Lost and Damned features a new main character and plot that intersects with the storyline of Grand Theft Auto IV. Rockstar also promise new missions that offer "an entirely fresh way to explore Liberty City" as well as new multiplayer modes, weapons,  vehicles and music tracks.

“Making these episodes has enabled us to expand the narrative and the experience of interacting with a game world in really innovative ways,” says Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar. “We hope fans of the game enjoy the new way of experiencing life in Liberty City contained in this first episode.”

Grand Theft Auto IV was released in April and enjoyed over US$500 million in worldwide sales in its first week, the biggest opening recorded for any entertainment product in history.

It has been rumoured that Microsoft paid Rockstar US$1 million to secure exclusive rights to the downloadable content for Xbox 360 only. Grand Theft Auto IV is also available on PlayStation 3 and PC.
