Most
people can recite quotes from iconic films like The Godfather, Casablanca, Star Wars, Ferris
Bueller's Day Off, Life of Brian, Scarface and Taxi Driver, but what are your
favourite one-liners from games?
It's
testimony to the poor quality of most game dialogue that arguably the
best-known quote in the gaming canon is the Engrish classic "All your base are belong to us", a gem taken from obscure Japanese Megadrive title Zero Wing.
But the notable exception in a sea of bland
scripts is the point-and-click adventure genre. Early 1990s LucasArts titles in
particular always offered very high-quality dialogue putting most modern games
to shame.
