Caitlin used a Nikon D70 to take most of the  pictures from Australia, New Zealand, Italy, Spain, Portugal and Netherlands. Mainly Australia and Italy since she lived in those places. I asked her if she considers herself as a photographer after seeing her pictures. The answer was:

C: No, only an untrained enthusiast with an eye. I have no idea how to actually work the camera with the f-stops an aperture and blah blah blah. I just shoot what looks good to me.

P: So you don't adjust?

C: Nope, I use the settings on the camera, fancy I know.

P: Haha.. This is great and might piss off a lot of pros.

C: Ha! Good! But I'm going to be discrete, I just have a fetish for light/shadow and architecture. I think it's all in the eye and looking at things differently than the regular tourist so people look at you as what you are, a traveler who likes to take pictures.

P: Very good ones too.

C: It's just a hobby I really love, I'm not trying to be a pro and take all the fun out of it.

P: What type of dishes did you cook with such succulent veggies?

C: Oh yes, fresh veggies in Florence, shoot I ate them raw, I'm not much of a cook but I'd eat the tomatoes like an apple. The camera I used for these was a Canon EOS Rebel, all my Australia/New Zealand/Portugal pics are my Nikon D70.

P: The water is so clear.
C:
Oh I know it made you want to jump in.
P:
I hope you did.
C:
Oh, I did, I have so many pictures from Portugal I haven't even looked at too.

P: Could you tell us where and what you were thinking when you shot this picture?

C: This is in Cortona, Italy. I was walking down the hill when I saw him totter over to his chair and sit down and I thought "He does this every day, and has been doing this for years." He just looked so peaceful and absorbed in the landscape he probably knows by heart. I snuck up behind him and took some shots, then offered him a 'buon giorno' as I walked by.

P: Great night shot, where is this?

C:  Melbourne, those boats were there for the Commonwealth Games, each represented and had the flags of the different commonwealths. I lived in Eureka Tower, which is the black tower in the middle of the waterfront, the area is Southbank on the Yarraand that was taken with my little Nikon Coolpix. I had just hopped off the tram on my way home from school and there it was I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE Melbourne.

P:
You think I would fit in there?

C: Yes, Melbourne is sick, so artsy, great cafes an amazing food, it's not all the glitz and glamour of Sydney but that's why I loved it. Also very pedestrian friendly, just easy to get around with the trams too.

P: Is this the inside of a Bean?

C:
Yes, the inside of the bean, directly underneath, on a cold winter day! I heart Chicago.

P: The lighting is perfect.

C: Thank you :) The light in Venice is insane. It's this watery wonderland of shimmers and reflection. But this one day there was a great warm sunset, and I happened to be on a boat! It was perfect.

C: Old San Juan, Puerto Rico, freaking amazing.

P: I've been to San Juan, brings back great memories. Thanks for taking the time explaining some of your photos from world travels. With all the excellent photos we went through you can expect a part two. If you can't wait until next time check out Caitlin's fb page filled with more photography from her travels.
