I'm all for aesthetics and it is pretty much one of my favourite things to see shoes caught on powerlines. I love it more than the Brontosaurus loved leaves and they were herbivores so that is a lot.

It's easy to do too, just tie someone's shoes together by their laces and then throw the pair at some wires overhead.

There are some urban legends regarding the practice too. Want to hear? Okay. Some say that shoes hanging from wires advertise a local crack house. It can also mean a place where heroin is sold, apparently. Probably symbolising that you are about to turn into a homeless, shoeless junkie if you enter the house. It's a little heads up from a caring dealer. Mostly, I think it's just a practical joke played on the drunkest drunk at the party.

But kids, be safe, shoe flinging can cause utility outages and the weight of the dangling shoes can disrupt the power line.
