Tales of the unexpected

Thursday, November 06, 2008
Roald Dahl's stories made him one of the world's greatest children's authors. If you have to ask why, then here are some of the reasons: The Twits, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, James and the Giant Peach, The Witches AND The BFG. All of which could easily be described as "best".

So today, courtesy of photographer Tim Walker and British Vogue, we're going to celebrate Roald Dahl Day (normally September 13th).

The marvellous, mischievous, magical world of Roald Dahl features Karen Elson, Helena Bonham Carter, Tim Burton, Lightspeed Champion, Jamie Bell, Gareth Pugh, Imelda Staunton, Georgia Jagger, Sophie Drake, Jamie Campbell Bower, Peter Jensen AND Alice Gibb. Basically, it's an all star cast.

You can see the rest of the shoot here.

kissmygrits Citizen kissmygrits ON 10 Nov 2008 08:12:50PM ah wonderful stuff. and while i was similarly intoxicated with roald dahl, i must admit i devoted a greater portion of my time to the aryan fantasy lands of enid blyton. the secret seven, the famous five, the wishing chair and the faraway tree, all were read and re-read to the point of destruction. because that's the kind of ultra-social kid i was... ah moonface, you always had the answers.
