http://www.neave.com/ is an experimental site from London based interactive designer, Paul Neave.
I have never been stuck in a k-hole, but this is what I would imagine it feels like. Like. You. Will. Never. Leave.
The
television without context
page is crazy / genius. I don't know how long I watched it for, maybe
ten minutes, but at one stage I thought I was not going to be able to
stop watching. Ever.
There is a
planetarium
that will bring the night sky to your web browser. You can move your
mouse through space, point at stars, find out constellations and how
far away they are in light years. 9.46 trillion kilometers is very far
away.
The
strobe
page, is not for epileptics. Neave says "look into my strobing lines of
wonder and turn your eyes into jelly. Everything should appear like
you're underwater... or moving into flashback." I got scared with this
one and had to abort. I was frightened my cerebellum was going to melt.
If you still need more, there are balls that bounce to music,
lights that flash, an anaglyph that lets you draw in red-blue 3D, as
well as mathematics that become "pretty geometric patterns" that repeat
forever. Well, not forever, apparently the computer has its limits even
if I don't. There is also a digital dandelion that you can allegedly
blow out by blowing into your microphone. I accidentally blew into the
camera, so I don't technically know if this feature works or not and
now everyone thinks I'm on crack so I'm too scared to try it again.
(Maybe you could and let me know?)
Seriously, just go
take a look.
