Three videos - all prodded with the electro stick - have collided, like rogue fashion asteroids, each packing its own take on the shoulder pad / shrug trend that's spreading like bacteria through the music video world This can only mean one thing. War.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs to walk away with this. But somehow Karen O has lost her usually rock-solid style while in the same orbit as a dancing werewolf, and under the direction of meteor-hot director Richard "IT Crowd" Ayoade no less. The poor effort on display on either shoulder suggests that Karen knew she was sharing the spotlight on this one, so she stepped back, offering herself to the flames, Joan of Arc style. Or it's just an ugly dress...
Casey Spooner has gone for broke on "We Are Electric", donning a Gareth Pugh / mountain gorilla creation, and the Japanese warrior style shoulder creation modelled above.
Sadly, the size of the shoulderwear fails to distract the viewer from the realisation that
Fischerspooner still haven't outdone "Emerge", and seem to have given up trying. After all, there's only so much burden the shoulders can carry. They can't write a good tune...

The surprise winner today is Dragonette. Martina comes out fighting and totally outguns the strangely dormant Karen O using a deadly combo attack of a rocking performance and a superb cassette tape creation. Great video too...
