DATA - 'Rapture'

While the young French producer DATA isn't exactly alone in his love of 80's vintage synth pop, channelling Beverly Hills Cop and Quincy Jones with clear idolatry, his new single "Rapture" does mark him out as something pretty special in his own right.

To be honest, it was when I saw photos of DATA on Parisian label Ekleroshop's site that I realised just how 'pretty special' he is, but if that doesn't sway you, Nicolas Andre & Damien Vignaux's, equally beautiful, new video might.

As with DATA's music, it lovingly samples the 80's but with a modern sensibility and slick new technical polish.

80's spray can graphics, Tron grid-pattern flooring, vintage videogame style camera angles, are all celebrated here using tasty 21'st century animation.
