Charli XCX

Friday, August 29, 2008
Charli XCX first won a talent contest on a cruise ship singing "Barbie Girl" by Aqua at four years old.

Eleven years later she recorded her own album to sell to her mates at school but was picked up by ORGY (Orange Red Green Yellow) Records instead.

"Massively influenced" by M.I.A., Uffie, and "that Ed Banger lot in Paris", she's a refreshing reminder that not every teenage girl will settle for being a Miley clone.

And after last weeks blog from Bjork, she's also a timely example of female production talent.

Check out "I Wanna Be Darth Vader", or new single "Franchesckaar!" at her Myspace.
