The Brit Awards have rolled around once more. So what have we learned?
In short, Liam Gallagher is still "a knobhead" (the awards' host's description, not just mine), the British are susceptible to reality show boybands, Ellie Goulding is still being hyped as a next big thing, Lily Allen has no taste in wigs compared to GaGa, Kasabian are still with us.
Frankly, we haven't moved on a great deal.
Still, there were some moments amongst the showing off and the back-patting. Here they are, dotted amongst this winners list...
British Female Solo Artist: Lily Allen
Susan Boyle was not deemed 'cool' enough for the Brits so sulky Allen finally had her moment in the sun. Strangely, in her opening performance she looked like SuBo anyway...
British Male Solo Artist: Dizzee Rascal
The only winner of the night signed to an indie label - his own. He also formed a one-night-only super duo on stage with the Best Album winner for "You've Got The Dirtee Love". What, herpes?
British Breakthrough Act: JLS
The runners-up on 2008's X Factor show prove that a) runners-up are this year's winners and, b) you can sell any old shit if it's on TV every week. Well done, all concerned.
British Group: Kasabian
And the "Luckiest pub band in Britain" award goes to...
MasterCard British Album: Florence and the Machine - Lungs
British Single: JLS - "Beat Again"
Critics' Choice: Ellie Goulding
BRITs Album of 30 Years: Oasis - (What's the Story) Morning Glory?
Noel Gallagher: "Listen kids - the best bands in the fucking world live forever,"
before hurling his microphone into the crowd.
Host Peter Kay as Gallagher leaves: "What a knobhead."
The BRITs Hits 30: Spice Girls - "Wannabe/Who Do You Think You Are"
The public voted for this over Kylie's "Blue Monday / Can't Get You Out Of My Head" mash-up in 2002, and Michael Jackson's Jarvis Cockered "Earth Song" performance from '96. Geri Halliwell's Union Jack dress is, quite rightly, being praised for clinching this one...
International Female Solo Artist: Lady Gaga
Not one of the great Brits performances, but then she was mourning Alexander McQueen. The beat drops at 2.27, in case you get bored...
International Male Solo Artist: Jay-Z
"Thanks to the Spice Girls for inspiring me," he joked, as if he's above cross-promotional tie-ins and branding and what-not.
International Album: Lady Gaga - The Fame
International Breakthrough Act: Lady Gaga
Outstanding Contribution Award: Robbie Williams
It's almost a tradition now to have a big, ultimately disappointing medley by a big hitter to close the show, and Robbie Williams didn't disappoint. It was shit, so...
Girls Aloud's Cheryl Cole was the other performer of the night, lip-syncing (badly) to her first two solo singles. Ironically, she's also fighting for her own love as her footballer hubby Ashley Cole is rumoured to have been cheating on her, again, hence no wedding ring in this video. She has been working on her entrance though.
