Rules of Commenting on

We’re all adults here right? We’ve all had years of socialisation on how to behave and how not to, no doubt underlined by dozens of humiliating adolescent experiences. We all know what it feels like to be insulted, and we can tell the difference between a person and an argument, right? Okay good. With that in mind, here’s how you should comment on TheVine.

Imagine you’re at a pub with a bunch of your friends, they all know you, and you know them. That pub is TheVine. A respectful disagreement now and then is completely understandable, even entertaining, but we don’t want to see you saying anything on our website that you wouldn’t be perfectly happy to say in front of all of your friends.

That means no threats, ever. You should also avoid saying anything that might get you sued. While we’re pretty open to what constitutes good taste and ‘on topic’ please try not to be disgusting or to sell us “best brand sneakers”. Finally (and since we’re at the pub, with all your friends, this should go without saying, but we’re saying it anyway), anything that promotes hate against anyone because of their ethnicity, sexuality, disability or gender is out. Now you kids adults have fun!
